Fan Will Not Start

POWER & MOTOR

Fan won’t turn on

Use this guide when the fan does not respond. Stop immediately if you notice smoke, sparks, a burning smell, damaged wiring, or a loose ceiling mount.

Before you start: Switch off power at the wall switch and circuit breaker. If a step requires opening the canopy or touching wiring, contact a licensed electrician.

TRY THIS FIRST

Work through these checks in order

01
Confirm the fan has power

Check the wall switch and circuit breaker. If other devices on the same circuit are also off, fix the circuit issue first.

02
Install fresh remote batteries

Match the + and – markings and make sure the battery contacts are clean and dry.

03
Reset power to the fan

Turn power off for at least 10 seconds, restore power, and test the fan once.

04
Check for anything blocking movement

With power off and the fan completely stopped, make sure no blade, guard, decorative part, or packing material is in the way.

05
Note what still works

Does the light respond? Does the remote indicator turn on? Record those results before moving on.

06
Have the wiring and receiver checked

With power off, a qualified person can check the canopy wiring and receiver plugs. Never bypass the receiver or energize exposed wiring.

WHAT DID YOU FIND?

Use the result to narrow down the cause

If the light works but the motor does not, the problem is likely limited to the motor control, receiver output, or a connection. If neither the fan nor light works, confirm incoming power first. If wall power is good but the remote does not respond, continue with the remote guide.
