Fan Will Not Start

POWER & MOTOR

Fan will not start

Use this guide when the fan and motor do not respond. Stop immediately if you notice smoke, sparks, burning odor, damaged wiring, or a loose mount.

Safety: Turn off power at the wall switch and circuit breaker before opening the canopy, touching wiring, or removing electrical parts. Use a licensed electrician when electrical work is required.

QUICK CHECK

Follow these steps in order

01
Confirm incoming power.
Check the wall switch and circuit breaker. If other devices on the same circuit are also off, resolve the circuit issue first.
02
Install fresh remote batteries.
Confirm the positive and negative orientation and clean, dry battery contacts.
03
Power-cycle the fan.
Turn power off for at least 10 seconds, then restore power and test once.
04
Remove obstructions.
With power off and the fan fully stopped, make sure no blade, guard, decorative part, or packaging material is blocking movement.
05
Check the correct control path.
If the light responds but the motor does not, record that result. If neither responds, record that too.
06
Inspect connections only with power off.
Have a qualified person check canopy wiring and receiver plugs. Do not bypass the receiver or energize exposed wiring.

WHAT THE RESULT MEANS

Next step

If the light works but the motor does not, the issue may be limited to motor control, the receiver output, or a connection. If neither fan nor light works, first confirm incoming power and receiver power. If wall power works but the remote does not, continue with the remote pairing guide.
